“Kantara” was the biggest unexpected hit of 2022. This mythological action thriller, made on a budget of just 16 Crore, shocked everyone by earning over 400 crore worldwide. Soon after, the film’s lead actor and director, Rishab Shetty, announced that he already has the story ready for the next installment. However, it won’t be a sequel; instead, it will be a prequel titled “Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1.”
The production company, Hombale Films, delivered two of the highest-grossing films of the same year, “KGF Chapter 2” and “Kantara.” They revealed the first look of “Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1” in November, which was so impressive that anticipation for the film grew even higher. The Shooting also began in December of last year.
The makers have elevated the scale almost ten times higher than the first part, something they couldn’t do in the first part due to budget constraints. For the second part, they have secured a massive budget of 125 Crore, promising a visual spectacle for the viewers.
When Will Kantara: Chapter 1 Be Released ?
The shooting is almost complete, with only 15 to 20 days of indoor shooting remaining. But the makers are not compromising on any aspect of the film, dedicating almost a year to the post-production process to ensure it is a perfect film for the audiences.
Rishab Shetty and Hombale Films are targeting for a summer 2025 release. It will be the first Indian film released in 7 languages; Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Malayalam and English.
