Dhurandhar: Will Ranveer Singh Make a Comeback with Uri Director Aditya Dhar’s Next Spy Action Thriller ?

Aditya Dhar is on a mission to bring all the talented stars of Indian cinema together in one frame. Since “Uri: The Surgical Strike” five years ago, Aditya has not directed another movie. This is because he has been focused on creating the sci-fi epic “The Immortal Ashwatthama” with Vicky Kaushal. The movie requires a huge budget, and despite the massive success of “Uri,” no producer has funded the project. Sometimes there were reports that the producers wanted to cast a big actor to ensure budget recovery, but eventually nothing happened.

Meanwhile, Aditya produced “Article 370,” which was another huge success. Now, he is gearing up for his next spy action thriller, “Dhurandhar.” The movie will be made on a large scale, but without focusing on glamour, he is bringing the real actors together for the movie. The cast includes Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal. We have high expectation for this one.

On the other hand, Ranveer Singh’s career has also faced challenges recently. Before the lockdown, he delivered blockbuster after blockbuster like “Dil Dhadakne Do,” “Gully Boy,” “Simmba,” “Padmaavat,” and “Bajirao Mastani.” However, after the lockdown, the public’s interest in his movies seems to have faded. Movies like “83,” “Jayeshbhai Jordaar,” and “Cirkus” flopped at the box office. Although “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” made a decent collection, most of the credit goes to Karan Johar, who has a strong overseas audience.

Now, the biggest film of his career, Farhan Akhtar’s “Don 3,” has been postponed. The mythological film set in Prasanth Varma’s universe got canceled, Karan Johar’s “Takht” has been shelved, the “Shaktimaan” movie produced by Sony has seen no progress, S. Shankar’s “Aparichit” remake got canceled, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Baiju Bawra” is on hold due to budget constraints.

“Dhurandhar” is Ranveer Singh’s last hope for a success that will attract producers. However, it won’t just be Ranveer’s movie; every actor will have an equally important role in this thriller. The movie will be produced by Jio Studios, B62 Studios, and the Dhar brothers, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar. Currently, the movie is in the pre-production phase and is expected to go on the shooting floors at the end of the year, with a probable release in the last quarter of 2025.

Let’s hope for a huge success for the movie like “Uri,” so that Aditya Dhar’s name becomes even bigger and he gets to make his dream project “The Immortal Ashwatthama.”
