Zack Snyder is known for his dark and gritty filmmaking style, often employing massive visual effects to create visually stunning movies on a grand scale. His directorial works, including “300,” “Watchmen,” “Sucker Punch,” “Man of Steel,” “Batman vs. Superman,” “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” “Army of the Dead,” and “Rebel Moon,” are all extremely eye-pleasing and require extensive visual effects.
Recently, in an interview with the ReelBlend Podcast, when Snyder was asked about his next project, he revealed that this one would be a small movie without any visual effects.
The interviewer asked, “You have Rebel Moon storytelling that you want to continue, you’ve talked about the six-part podcast that you want to keep doing. I’ve heard you say that you want to go back to the Army Of The Dead and sort of capitalize on those stories, but which one is taking your attention at the time?”
To which Zack replied, “We’re trying to do like a small movie right now. I’m not going to say what it is, but I was like, can I just do a movie without any visual effects in it for like five minutes and then we get back to the insanity. So that’s what we’re trying to do right now. I’m supposed to be writing this little movie.”
We all know the history of Zack Snyder and his director’s cuts. Almost every movie he directed has a different director’s cut, and they are really better than the studio version, adding some value to the story. But now, with this formula, Netflix is tending to cash in for themselves.
Snyder has an old relationship with Netflix. His previous movie, “Army of the Dead,” which is rated R, is among Netflix’s top 20 most-viewed films. Initially, there were no reports of a director’s cut for “Rebel Moon” part 1. When the movie received negative reviews and below-mediocre ratings, Zack announced that there would be a director’s cut. This raised questions about why the director’s cut wasn’t released in the first place.
The answer is pretty simple: this is just a cash grab for them. Now that the director’s cut was released on August 2, we highly doubt how many people will watch it, especially since many didn’t watch the second part after the first one. We haven’t watched the director’s cut, but we can ensure that no director’s cut will be able to save this movie because it is just a half-baked rip-off of Star Wars.

Zack Snyder’s Next Movie Will Feature No VFX
After watching “Rebel Moon,” we really thought that Zack might need a little break to return to his old form. The interview suggests Snyder realizes the mess he has created and wants to make a movie with a smaller budget, fewer VFX, and less producer pressure.
Throughout Snyder’s career, we haven’t seen him make a simple movie. It’s strange to think that after “Rebel Moon,” we might get something where the story and characters will get more importance than the visual effects. It will be interesting to see what he cooks up this time.
