Following the massive success of “Gadar 2,” Sunny Deol is now gearing up for his another sequel. The 1997 cult classic film “Border” is getting a sequel titled “Border 2.” Besides “Border 2,” Sunny Deol has several films in production, including Rajkumar’s Santoshi’s “Lahore 1947” produced by Aamir Khan, Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana,” and a film titled “Baap” starring the classic heroes: Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, Mithun Chakraborty and Jackie Shroff. Recently, Mythri Movie Makers has announced a film titled “SDGM,” Gadar 3 and many more projects.
In his upcoming lineup, the second most anticipated film is “Border 2.” The first one is “Ramayana,” where he is playing Hanuman Ji. Recently, we got an exciting progress on “Border 2.” Previously, there were rumors of Ayushmann Khurrana being a part of the film. Now another big actor has joined the sequel of “Border.”
According to Peepingmoon, Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh is set to play an important role in the film. He will be seen playing an Indian army officer, although his character details are currently kept under wraps. Recently, he appeared in Imtiaz Ali’s “Amar Singh Chamkila,” which was a huge hit on Netflix.

“Border 2” is based on the Indo-Pak war and is being promoted as India’s biggest war film. The original was directed by J. P. Dutta, but instead of directing, he is producing the sequel with Bhushan Kumar. The sequel will be directed by the “Kesari” director Anurag Singh. Diljit Dosanjh’s participation is highly anticipated, given his previous collaborations with Anurag Singh in films like “Jatt & Juliet,” “Jatt & Juliet 2,” “Disco Singh,” “Punjab 1984,” and “Super Singh.”
In addition to Diljit, there are reports that Ayushmann Khurrana will play a parallel lead alongside Sunny and Diljit. Ayushmann is currently in negotiation with the makers and will give the green light soon. There are also rumors that Suniel Shetty’s son, Ahan Shetty, will be part of the film.
In June of this year, Sunny Deol announced the film on the 27th anniversary of “Border.” The film is currently in under the pre-production stage and will go in floors on November 2024. We can expect the release of the film during the Republic Day weekend of 2026.
