Anurag Kashyap’s New Thriller with Amazon Prime: A Bold Move or a Big Mistake

We believe that even Anurag Kashyap‘s hardcore fans haven’t watched his last 3-4 ventures. These include “Choked”, “Dobaaraa”, “Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat” and “Kennedy,” which has not yet been released in theatres and probably never will be. It seems probably he is trying to shift his carrer from directing to acting.

It’s as if he has been reborn from director to actor. Last year, we saw him in Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s “Haddi” and he had a rather pointless cameo in “Leo.” We blame director Lokesh Kanagraj for this missed opportunity, as he could have given him a more impactful role. This year, he appeared in one of India’s most talked-about movies, “Maharaja,” with Vijay Sethupathi. Everyone who has watched the film has become a fan of Anurag’s acting. Most recently, we saw him in Disney+ Hotstar’s thriller show “Bad Cop,” which is thoroughly entertaining.

Anurag Kashyap Is Back In Direction

But now, he is back again in direction. A few months ago we got an update that Anurag is making a thriller with Bobby Deol, and the shooting will start in September 2024. Now, reports are saying that Kashyap is collaborating with Amazon Prime Video for the first time on a thriller. The shooting has already started, and the film will star Aaishvary Thackeray, making his Bollywood debut. The film also features Vineet Kumar Singh from “Mukkabaaz”, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Kumud Mishra.

Who Is Aaishvary Thackeray ?

Aaishvary Thackeray is the grandson of the Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Before this film, he has worked as an assistant director on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Bajirao Mastani.” However, we are a bit skeptical as we haven’t seen any appearance of Aaishvary Thackeray in any film or shows. He is debuting in Bollywood directly in a lead role in an Anurag Kashyap film, which says a lot about how the industry works.

We hope Anurag’s this film doesn’t make the blunder as his previous three-four films. He was previously involved in creating Netflix’s most popular Indian series “Sacred Games,” and we hope he will deliver a great thriller on Prime Video, comparable to the work we expected from Anurag Kashyap five years ago.
